When asked on Real Voice 99.5 about the cruise tax (€20 for Mykonos), the Mayor of Mykonos, Christos Veronis, replied that it appears to be a measure that hasn’t been studied, is completely out of step with what’s happening in the rest of Europe, seems punitive, and creates instability and uncertainty in the tourism community—especially when some have already made bookings for the next 18 months. “Let’s stop putting obstacles in the way of our islands every so often—our islands that compete at the highest international level.”
