The Municipal Council is comprised of 27 Council Member elected every 5 years.
The council's term of office ends at 23rd of December 2023. The Chairman and the Secretary are proposed by the majority and the Vice-Chairman by the minority.
Today, the Bureau consists of:

The City Council meets at the invitation of the President at least once a month. According to the no. 95 of the Municipal and Community Code (Law 3463/06) "The Chairman shall also invite the Council to a meeting with a written invitation, listing the items on the agenda, at the request of the Mayor or the Economic Committee or a third (1 / 3) at least the total number of Council members or all minority councilors."
The President of the Municipal Council shall draw up the Agenda in which it shall be obligatory to list all matters suggested by the Mayor in writing.
The meetings are public and at each meeting are held minutes.
The council has a quorum when half of one of its members is present. It takes decisions by an absolute majority of the present, unless otherwise specified. Each decision gets a distinct number and at the beginning of each year a new numbering of these decisions is made.
Anyone with a special legal interest may request written records of specific practices and decisions or obtain full knowledge thereof in the case of difficult copies. With the care of the President of the Municipal Council, all the decisions of the Municipal Council can be registered on the Municipality's website. Failure to publish decisions on the website is not grounds for invalidating the decision.
The City Council discusses and decides:
a) on all matters concerning the Municipality other than those that fall within the competence of the Mayor or other Committees
b) express its views on issues of local interest and give its opinion whenever public authorities or competent bodies are consulted.
c) determine taxes, fees, royalties and levies.
d) has decisive or advisory responsibilities in the field of regulatory plans and programs for environmental protection, planning of implementation of regulatory plans, housing organization of open cities, implementation of General Urban Planning (GIS), town planning studies, redevelopment of areas, town planning interventions, redevelopment of degraded areas, urban regeneration of problem areas,compensation of urban planning regulations, contribution to land or money in specially regulated urban planning areas (PPPPs), approval of planning studies and land use planning, cemeteries settlement according to provisions of Law 2508/1997 (Government Gazette 124A), as in each case incineration of dead people.
e) draw up its rules of procedure by an absolute majority of its members on the basis of the standard rule in Article 95 (8).
f) one month before the elections and up to the establishment of the new municipal authorities, the Municipal Council shall decide only on matters relating to exceptional cases of extreme urgency and unforeseeable need.
Also, the City Council as a collective body of direct democratic expression can take a stand on local and general interest issues.

Financial Committee

The Economic Committee is a collective body for monitoring and controlling the economic operation of the Municipality. It consists of the Mayor or Deputy Mayor appointed by the Mayor as its President and members of which some are elected by minority municipalities in accordance with the applicable law.
The responsibilities of the Economic Committee are set out in detail in Article 72 of Law 3852/2010.
Article 72
Economic Committee - Responsibilities
The Economic Commission is a monitoring and controlling body for the economic operation of the municipality. In particular, it has the following responsibilities:
a) draws up the budget of the municipality,
b) checks the implementation of the budget and submits a quarterly report to the municipal council, which presents the state's revenue and expenditure. This report, which includes any minority comments, is published on the municipality's website,
(c) prepares the report,
(d) it decides on the approval of expenditure and the allocation of budget appropriations, except for those decided by the municipal council in accordance with the relevant provisions, and also decides in a justified manner also in cases of direct procurement of supplies, services, studies and project execution in extremely urgent cases,
e) without prejudice to paragraph 4 hereof, draws up the terms, draws up the tender, conducts and awards all auctions in accordance with the applicable legislation. For the conduct of auctions and the evaluation of tenders may be constituted committees, by its members, municipal or civil servants or specialists,
(f) study the need for borrowing, draw up their terms and suggest to the municipal council,
g) recommend to the municipal council the imposition of fees, rights and contributions,
h) decides on the acceptance of inheritances, bequests and donations,
i) propose to the municipal council an annual plan for the management and exploitation of the property of the municipality. It monitors the implementation of this plan and informs the city council,
(j) decide on issues of transparency and e-government,
k) propose to the municipal council the draft regulatory decisions of the municipality, subject to the provisions of Article 73 (1) (b) and monitor their implementation,
(l) decides to submit complaints to the administrative authorities,
(m) decide on the exercise of all legal remedies and remedies,
(n) decides on a settlement and recommends to the municipal council for an out-of-court settlement or winding up of up to thirty thousand (30,000) euros,
(o) decides on the appointment of a proxy attorney and to withdraw his power of attorney, to those municipalities which are either not recruited by lawyers, with monthly remuneration, or those who have been recruited are not entitled to sit in supreme courts. It may also entrust the provision of opinions only if no lawyers have been recruited, with monthly remuneration. By decision, it is possible, by way of exception, to assign to a lawyer, extrajudicial or judicial proceedings, per case, issues which are of particular importance to the interests of the municipality and require specialized knowledge or experience. In such cases the lawyer's remuneration is determined in accordance with the provisions of Article 281 of the CCP.
- For cases (l), (m) and (n) of the preceding paragraph, the decision is taken after a lawyer's opinion, the non-existence of which renders the decision void. In the case of wage claims of any kind, including allowances, it is not possible to waive legal remedy, court or out-of-court settlement and the removal of a lawsuit except in cases where the legal issue has been judged by a supreme court. This arrangement is also applicable when the municipal council decides on this, owing to the exceeding of the thirty thousand (30,000) euro item of the case n of the previous paragraph.
- The city council may, on very serious matters with specific reasoning, and with the absolute majority of its members, decide that it will exercise the same powers of the previous paragraphs.
- The Finance Committee may, by special decision taken by an absolute majority of its members, refer a specific matter of its competence to the municipal council for decision, if it considers that this is particularly serious."
The municipality of Mykonos, in accordance with the legal provisions, elected by decision of the Municipal Council (NUMBER OF DECISION: 52/2017) the present Economic Committee and then by its decision (NUMBER OF DECISION: 14/2017) its Vice President as follows:

Quality of Life Committee

The Life Quality Committee is a collective body, practicing the quality of life, town planning, town planning and environmental protection of the municipality. It consists of the mayor or deputy mayor appointed by the mayor as its chairman and by members of which some are elected by minority municipalities in accordance with the applicable law.
The responsibilities of the Quality of Life Committee are defined in detail in Article 73 of Law 3852/2010.
Article 73
Committee on Quality of Life - Responsibilities
The Quality of Life Committee is recommended in municipalities of over ten thousand (10,000) inhabitants, it is a decisive and advisory body for exercising the quality of life, town planning, town planning and environmental protection of the municipality. In the exercise of its responsibilities, it is given special attention to the design of actions aimed at upgrading the quality of life and, in general, serving people with disabilities. Particularly:
A. It is competent, subject to Article 83, to:
(i) the prior approval of the establishment of branches and undertakings after prior examination of the relevant request by the person concerned,
(ii) the revocation or definitive withdrawal of the authorization to set up and operate business premises and other facilities and activities of the municipality,
(iii) grant or revoke the music license. The relevant decision is taken within twenty (20) days after all legitimate documents and information have been received by the Committee.
B. Suggests to the Municipal Council:
(i) land use issues,
(ii) issues of regulatory plans, planning of the implementation of regulatory plans, settlement of open cities, implementation of a General Urban Plan (GIS), town planning studies, regeneration of areas, town planning interventions, financing of regeneration programs, reconstruction of degraded areas, urban regeneration of problematic areas , land-use compensation, town-planning regulations, land or in-kind contributions, specially regulated urban planning areas and town planning approval,
(iii) decision-making on environmental issues,
(iv) decision-making on issues concerning the location of cemeteries according to the provisions of Law 2508/1997 (Government Gazette 124 A), incineration centers for dead people and others related to its subject matter, draft regulatory decisions under Articles 79 and 82 of the CCP.
(v)The Quality of Life Committee draws up an annual activity report in its fields of competence, which is discussed and approved by the municipal council. The city council may, on very serious matters with specific reasoning, and with the absolute majority of its members, decide that it will exercise the same powers of the previous paragraphs.
The Quality of Life Committee, with a special decision taken by an absolute majority of its members, may refer a specific matter of its competence to the municipal council for decision, if it considers that this is a matter of particular gravity.
