Municipal Port Fund of Mykonos
Municipal Port Fund of Mykonos
The Municipal Port Fund of Mykonos was established in 2003. As a port administration and management body, it aims to provide information on matters related to port zones, facilities of the two ports, and services to the residents of Mykonos, as well as to all visitors. There are two ports operating in Mykonos: the old port of Mykonos in the Chora of the island, and the new port located 3.5 km north of Chora, in Tourlos bay.
The new port of Mykonos is under construction, designed to meet the ever-increasing transportation needs of the island, and upon completion, it will represent a major infrastructure project for Mykonos.
The Municipal Port Fund of Mykonos aims to ensure the delimitation of port zones (designation or assimilation) in its areas of jurisdiction in order to:
Have a responsible body for port administration, management, and development
Clarify the territorial extent of the responsibilities of the port administration and management body
Eliminate disputes about whether or not it can exercise its subject matter jurisdiction
Avoid encroachments on public spaces
