The island of Mykonos boasts a wide range of educational institutions, both Primary and Secondary, staffed with experienced and capable personnel to provide optimal educational services. Specifically:

The school complex housing the Lyceum and TEE of Mykonos is located in the Peteinaros area and began operating in 2002. It consists of a ground floor of 1200 sq.m, a basement of 167 sq.m, a first floor of 443 sq.m, and semi-outdoor spaces totaling 400 square meters. It was built on land owned by the Municipality of Mykonos, which consists of initial fields inherited by the Municipality from the late Mayor of Mykonos, Kouzis Georgoulis, augmented by another neighboring field recently purchased by the Municipality, totaling 26,000 square meters.

The 1st and 2nd Kindergartens of Mykonos are co-housed in a building constructed in 1978, following a monetary donation by the late Dimitrios Koutsis in the Lakka area of Mykonos town, on a plot owned by the Municipality of Mykonos, with a total area of 1,180 sq.m. Later, another 210 sq.m were added to the initial complex, and in 1992 it was completed with a new room of 73 sq.m.

The former Elementary School of Marathio, closed and abandoned since 1986, was converted in 2000 into the fully equipped (with furniture, heating, educational aids, etc.) Kindergarten of Marathio, after renovation of the existing old building by the Municipality of Mykonos and the addition of a new classroom and a boiler room. The surrounding plot of 1600 sq.m. (owned by the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs) was improved and equipped with a pavilion-shelter, games, an artificial lake, and more. Subsequently, the Municipality purchased a neighboring plot of 3,000 sq.m., where it constructed storage spaces of about 60 sq.m. and converted the rest into a parking area. The current total surface area of the buildings is approximately 300 sq.m.

The Elementary School of Mykonos town (which now houses only the 1st Elementary School of Mykonos) in Tria Pigadia – Lakka was founded in 1935 after the donation of its plot to the competent school board, initially as a single-story building, which has since been supplemented with successive additions of classrooms and other spaces, both in height and in extension. Its total area today is 1,519 sq.m.

The Mykonos nursery is housed in the former Primary School in the Omvrodektis area, on the Airport road, which was originally built as a single-classroom school in the early 1930s and operated as such for several decades. In 1990, it was converted into a nursery after appropriate repairs, the addition of a room in 1992, and complete equipment. The total area of the existing buildings today is approximately 200 square meters.

The Mykonos High School was founded in 1963 and operates to this day on a plot donated by Ntemeneo and Petroula Daktylidi. The first building complex has since been expanded with additions (gymnasium, library, etc.) to meet the ever-increasing needs of secondary education. It was co-located with the Mykonos Lyceum until the 2001-2002 school year, until the latter was relocated to the new building complex in Peteinaros. Today it operates only as a High School, and its buildings cover an area of 1,250 square meters.

The building housing the Ano Mera nursery was initially created in 1927 to function as a primary school for girls, in a building donated by the late brothers Petros and Michael Kampanis. In the last five years, after suitable repairs to the existing buildings, the addition of new necessary spaces, and their complete equipment, the complex co-housed the Kindergarten and the nursery of Ano Mera until 2005, when significant renovation of the interior and exterior spaces of the building took place, and since then it has housed only the Nursery.

In 2005, the Municipality of Mykonos, with funds from the 4th CSF, built a state-of-the-art school building on the same plot, with appropriately designed teaching spaces and spacious courtyards, where the Kindergarten of Ano Mera has since been housed.

In 1874, the Public School was founded in Ano Mera, which, for several years, was housed in various private and monastic buildings. In 1900, the first school building was erected on a donated monastic plot at the expense of the State. Since then, the building complex has been expanded with two classroom additions and houses the Primary School of Ano Mera. Construction of a new two-level building is expected to begin soon at the back of the existing old one, which will include a fully organized multipurpose space for cultural events and other activities, as well as three classrooms.
