Community Center
The Municipality of Mykonos, within the framework of funding for the new programming period ESPA 2021-2027 for Community Centers, and specifically in the South Aegean ROP 2021-2027, is starting the operation of a Community Center for the benefit of citizens living in the Municipality area, with the recruitment of two staff members with specialties in PE/TE SOCIAL WORKERS.
The services provided by the Community Center operate on three main axes:
A) Reception, Information, Support for citizens
B) Collaboration with services, Agencies, and Structures providing social protection services
C) Provision of Services aimed at improving the living standards of citizens and ensuring the social inclusion of beneficiaries.
The goal of the Community Centers’ operation is to serve as a ‘front desk’ for reception, registration, guidance, and referral of beneficiaries to the appropriate services, either at local, regional, or national level.
More specifically, the action concerns the Operation of the Community Center of the Municipality of Mykonos and provides services aimed at improving the living standards and ensuring the social inclusion of beneficiaries through the provision of a comprehensive network of services aimed at combating poverty, social exclusion, and all forms of discrimination, as well as promoting employment. The Community Center offers information, counseling services, employment promotion services, contributes to the development of cultural and intercultural activities, promotes personal and social well-being, supports children and the elderly, and generally develops social aid and support actions, while collaborating with other social structures and services of the Municipality.
The Community Center aims to ensure:
- Access to information for all residents, as well as for those groups with specific characteristics, whose communication with the staff of the Community Centers will bring them closer to the services designed and funded to address their daily problems
- Support in access and inclusion processes for Provided Services, Social goods, and programs that exist, but often due to complex procedures or lack of skills from potential beneficiaries, their accessibility is not ensured.
- Raising awareness in the local community, productive agencies, the beneficiaries themselves, combating stereotypes, enhancing the participation of Municipality residents in social actions.
- Coordination – interconnection of agencies and services – enhancing planning effectiveness, which will be achieved through the centers' ability to intervene horizontally at all involved levels and agencies developing social actions and programs, which often lack information on how and with what actions another related agency or organization intervenes, as well as what are the results of the actions' implementation and the response of beneficiaries.
